The same everywhere?
My wife and I sat down in Abano Park to cool off and enjoy the view. A pretty girl approached.
“Do you speak German?” she asked.
“A little,” I said, thinking she was a tourist, as she was waving what looked like a map.
“Ah! Perhaps you would like to look at this leaflet. We are Jehovah’s witnesses.”
The leaflet said: “AWAKE!” I awoke to the situation.
“I’m sorry,” I said, “I don’t really know German.”
After all, we have our own Jehovah’s witnesses.

Pride before a fall
In the bar I asked for a drink in Italian - and got it! I decided to have a real conversation...
Myself: “I have just begun to learn Italian.”
Barman: “No sir, I am sure your change was correct.”
Perhaps I need to start learning again.
