In Britain, managers of swimming pools usually think that people who like to swim also like to listen to pop music, and play it through loudspeakers. I like pop music about as much as I like dog shit, and always try to keep my ears under water.
But at the Abano swimming pool it is different. Above the water it is peaceful, but when you put your head under the water, you can hear that there are underwater loudspeakers. So I have had to learn to swim with my ears out of the water!
By the way, there is something else that I like to do without having to listen to somebody else’s choice of music. That is sitting in the bar talking to my friends.
