The Romanians Coming to this Congress

The Romanian GO Federation’s saga of coming to European Go Congress started months ago. After a lot of correspondence with the organizer we finally succeeded in making our application for the Italian visa. After three more weeks of waiting we could obtain our visas thanks to extraordinary efforts of Mr. Soletti who succeeded to convince the Italian Embassy (famous in Romania for having the most difficult visas formalities).

We want to thank Mr. Soletti once more, and we ask him to forgive our lots of phones, not all at decent hours.

Eight hours after obtaining visa we left to Italy. We made 43 hours by train, thanks to Italian custom who kept us five very long hours. We still do not know why, and probably not even they. The hard part was to convince those guys to phone to Mr. Soletti. After this had been done everything was solved immediately.

We are 23 persons at the congress, 16 Dan level players, with 4 more top level Dan players which came with the other Romanian group - the really huge one - to whom the Romanian Go Federation paid the transports and accommodation, thanks to an unique effort (financial but not only) of Mr. Sorin Sora, president of Romanian Go Federation.

So here we are, and we hope to do a good job - take a look at the 13x13 tournament result.
